Panasonic India has launched the Panasonic P50 Idol and P65 Flash smartphones in India. The devices have been priced at Rs. 6790 and Rs. 8290 respectively. The two new devices come as an addition to the P-series of Panasonic, which includes the likes of Panasonic P51.

As per the official statement of the company, the devices are launched in this festive season as a perfect gifting option. Panasonic India, Business Head of Mobility Division, Pankaj Rana commented at the launch of the device –

Indian consumers are well aware and perceptive buyers, well informed about technology trends and available offerings in the market. We always keep the consumer behaviour in mind at every step of our smartphone design and manufacturing strategy. With the release of the P50 Idol and P65 Flash, Panasonic now offers nearly 30 smartphones at affordable price points for every buyer to indulge themselves or their loved ones this festive season.

Both these devices run on Android 5.1, and are powered by 1.3GHz quad-core processor. The Panasonic P50 Idol features a 5 inch HD IPS display, while the P65 features a bigger, 5.5 inch HD display.

With 1GB RAM, and 8GB internal memory, the devices support dual SIM connectivity and feature 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash. These devices also feature 2MP front-facing camera.

The only major difference between the P50 Idol and P65 Flash is in the display and battery. The Panasonic P65 Flash, with a bigger display, features 2910 mAh battery, while the P50 Idol features 2150 mAh battery. With FM support, the devices come with the usual connectivity options including 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. Although, 4G LTE support is clearly missing.

With no new innovative features as such, the devices are horribly overpriced. With much better options available at the same price point for the users, Panasonic seems to have launched yet another failure.
