Lenovo, the famous mobile manufacturer has unveiled 3 new devices in its S-series. Named the Lenovo S660, Lenovo S850 and Lenovo S860, all of these devices run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS, and support dual SIM. At the launch event, when Tech Junction’s journalist asked the representatives of Lenovo about the launch of these devices in India, he replied that these will be introduced in the Q2 of 2014. Although he refused to give an official statement, he spoke exclusively to Tech Junction that the Lenovo S660 might be priced at Rs. 15,000, while the S860 could be priced at Rs. 22,500.

Featuring 4.7 inch IPS display, the Lenovo S660 has 540×960 pixels resolution. The display seems really sharp, but at the rumored price in India of Rs. 15,000, there are many full HD devices available, so the S660 doesn’t seem something out of the blue. The device features quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor, that powers the device along with 1GB RAM.

The Lenovo S660 has 8MP rear camera and VGA front camera. Although the device doesn’t seem too different than those launched by Indian brands, but it could still get some success in India thanks to the brand name. Lenovo S660 ships with 8GB inbuilt memory, which can be expanded with a microSD card upto 32GB. With connectivity options like WiFi, EDGE, GPRS, GPS, Bluetooth, and 3G, the S660 seems a good budget device in this range.

Commenting on the launch of the new devices in the S-series, Liu Jun, Executive VP, Mobile, Lenovo said

The new S860, S850 and S660 smartphones perfectly complement the full range of mobile devices available to consumers around the world, letting consumers easily pick the Lenovo smartphone that’s right for them. Customers told us they wanted a great user experience without sacrificing performance, so we built these new smartphones for style, blazing fast processing speeds, and integrated Lenovo apps.

It is clear with this official statement that the main purpose for the launch of these devices was to fill the gap between the low budget and high budget devices from Lenovo.

Lenovo S850 price in India

Coming to the Lenovo S850, the device features 5 inch display that has 1280×720 pixels display. Although the device ¬†doesn’t have full HD display, it is available in pink and white colours. The pink color does seem a bit ridiculous at first, but if you consider it, it will be perfect for girls, so this is again a nice move by Lenovo. Running on the same processor that powers the S660, the Lenovo S850 has 1GB RAM. Although other than the screen, the S850 and the S660 look similar but the main difference lies in the camera. The Lenovo S850 features 13MP rear snapper and 5MP front camera.

On the launch event, the clear attraction was the Lenovo S860, which features a large 5.3 inch display with 720×1280 resolution. The device has a massive 4000 mAh battery, that powers it’s big display. With dual front speakers, the S860 has 2GB RAM and runs on 1.3GHz MediaTek processor. With 16GB internal memory, the device has only 8MP rear camera.

Aimed at the mid-budget users, these 3 new devices from Lenovo seem a nice addition to the range of mobiles by Lenovo. Although the official price in India of these is not yet available, but we can expect an official announcement soon. Stay tuned to Tech Junction for more updates.
