Look and Feel

Sony Xperia SL has a really nice design with the mixture of glass and plastic. The major part of its front is covered by a 4.3 TFT display sporting a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. This results in an excellent pixel density if 342 ppi. The front also has a front camera and sensors at the top, and capacitive buttons for Menu, Home and Back at the bottom. Its back is of rugged material making it easier to grip and flaunts a primary camera and speaker grille.

The standout feature of Sony Xperia SL is light notification bar at the bottom of the device signifying arrival of a call or message by lighting up. It’s totally customizable and gives a very nice touch to the device. It can also be used while playing music.

Sony Xperia SL is powered by a 1.7 GHz qualcomm snapdragon MSM8260 dual-core processor coupled with 1 GB RAM. This combination ensures smooth functioning of the device even during multitasking or playing games.

It has huge internal storage of 32 GB out of which 6 GB is used by system and around 26 GB is available to the user.

Connectivity and OS

Sony Xperia SL supports 2G/ 3G networks, GPS with A-GPS, and can also connect to devices via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi hotspot, NFC. It connects to computer through microUSB cable and to TVs using HDMI.

The device runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) OS with the company promising an upgrade to the latest version of Android Jelly Bean.

For shutterbugs, the camera offers absolutely fantastic option with its 12.1 megapixel camera supported by LED flash. It comes with multitude of options like autofocus, smile detection, geotagging, panorama, etc. It also have a front-facing camera of 1.3 MP which is useful for video calling purposes.

Sony Xperia SL is a multimedia device, and hence it requires a good battery to allow its usage. It has a 1750 mAh battery which claims standby time of up to 410 hours and talk time of up to 8 hours.

Xperia SL comes across as a VFM choice due to its superb display and nice camera. Though its competitors like Galaxy Grand, Micromax Canvas A116 HD may include powerful hardware, they can’t beat it on its camera quality.
