Microsoft is all set to launch the Microsoft Office on Android devices, but it would be available only on mobiles, and not on tablets. Actually, the Microsoft Office for Android won’t be available separately, but would be available to the users who have the Office 365 subscription.

Recently, Microsoft Office was also launched on the iPhone, and not on iPad. With this move, Microsoft aims to make Microsoft Office available only on those tablets that run on Windows OS.

Also, with Microsoft Office for Android coming as a package with the Office 365 subscription, Microsoft aims to gather more Office 365 users.

While this seems a good move by Microsoft, making it a phone exclusive app wasn’t a very good idea.

This is what a Microsoft official wrote in a blog post –

The release of this app shows that we’re committed to keep providing additional value for Office 365 subscribers. Office 365 subscribers will now be able to access, view, and edit Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents with Windows Phone, iPhone and Android phones.
